Last Minute Changes

Everyone always says doing last minute changes to your bike usually results in failure. Thats why I went ahead and did them last minute before the Wednesday night summer series race. That way they wouldn't be last minute before the Burn 24 hour mountain bike race.

I went over to the Mutt's secret headquarters. I have been running the same tubeless tires for 2 years now and needed to replace them. It also gave me a chance to get rid of the front tire in which I didn't like, but still rode for 2 years. The Continental King 2.4. I just don't think it was right for the Charlotte conditions of sand and clay, although when I went to Colorado last year for nationals it held its own.

Instead I opted for the tried and true Kenda small block 8 on the rear and Nevegal on the front. I took some pictures but the card doesn't work with my 5 year old laptop. I will have to post some later.

In other news Queencity Bicycles Bart has loaned me a Seca 1400 for the Burn. Thank you Bart for that and I will definalty use it to its fullest and try to blind some squirells for you. Thats all for right now, sorry no pictures, but I am going to the bar and then off for a family dinner. What a way to train for the weekend right? Till then.

I'm Sorry

That I took a 2 week vacation from posting anything. It is just pretty hectic around here as the house has been in shambles with all the of guest we had here for my bachelor party one weekend and the burrowers the next. Lets just say it was a great time had by all and almost no biking gone done. I'm ok with that.

2 Thursdays ago I had the crew come into town to visit and start my marriage off right. with a big ass party. Cranky dan, shitbrick, web, kope, chuck, squeaks all crashed at the party headquarters here. Despite being one sleeping arrangement short we all survived it and had a great time. Downtown Thursday for alive after 5 concert. Friday car show, Saturday white water rafting, beer, bar, strip club. I wont get into details but it was everything a bachelor party should be.

I had a few days reprieve in which I was lucky enough to go to work (to rest) and then the burrower had her party the next weekend. Although there were half the amount of people staying at the house, it got just as crazy when all of the girls came over. That weekend me and Jason were the DD and I will tell you I might have to do that more often to watch all of the drunk people stumble out of the Epicenter at 2:15 am in the morning, including our significant others. To keep things simple here are a few of the pictures, but if your my face-friend you already have these and have tagged yourself anyway. If not enjoy, and these are all the pg-rated ones. To get the good ones you will have to message me for them.

The sombrero/mountie hat.

start of a great saturday.

Im the front paddle on the right....

The burrower and bridesmaids, well the only ones that were ok to get up to raft the next day after some madness downtown.

Oh yeah, there was a race last night for the start of the summer series. I will probably cover that sometime next week, right in time for the next race.

At Least I wasn't Last...

Another Wednesday night race in the Summer Series and another race in which I did not do well. At least I wasn't last. I checked the unofficial results and was 12 out of 14 or 15. It is nice to know that I might have gotten a little bit better without actually training, but I don't really enjoy Reni Park either. The trail knomes were kind to the place with the 2nd half of the trail being a lot better than the first half, but maybe thats because there is an actual flow to the course and not just an up and down trail for 3 miles.

Actually the race was pretty uneventful for me as only one tree hit and no crashes. I just go to these races for the people though. A bunch of bike race pro's wannabe who all enjoy a nice beer afterward. To bad they don't allow beer at the park so we got hotdogs instead. Provided by the local club Tarheel Trailblazers

All of the members do great work and really make Charlotte a mountain biking mecca.

I did have a request for the burrower to come and take some action shots of the races as she did capture me in my finest on the boat.

I will see if she can make an appearance for a few of these just for the photography.
Anyway tonight is one of the first Summer Concert Series at the Whitewater Center. I just love being outdoors, listening to music, and watching people fall off rafts.

I also received a text message from the Burrower stating there is going to be no rain foretasted for the next 10 days. Lets go Ride!!

We Had a Yankee in our Mist...

Ok, not that you can tell one yankee from another down here, but like I mentioned last week The Burrowers former roommate Trey was coming into town to visit as everyone needs a little vacation from their own lives. Skip forward to Saturday. A nice relaxing morning followed by a trip to the Whitewater Center for lunch.

Trey actually really liked this place as it is not something in which you get in Iowa at all. After lunch there and a quick stop to let puddles and puddle jr. out it was off to my co-workers Sarah birthday party. I would post pictures, but like most birthday parties the Birthday girl doesnt want pictures taken of the hot mess they become. So I will save her the embarrassment. But here was the drink of choice for the girls. This was some nasty wine.

After the party it was followed by our normal usual informal get together at the J and A Ranch. It got to be another hot mess real quick after the shots started happening. All and all it was a fun weekend.

Although I didnt get a chance to ride at all I did find this in my email box.
